What’s more, the expertise doesn’t stop with Mr. Phillips. The experience of Ryan Hill, Chief Financial Officer; Vicki Atherton, Project Manager; Cory Ringo, Project Manager, and Samantha Stanton, Assistant Project Manager are equally impressive. While the expertise and experience of the staff at Top Shelf REA are indeed remarkable, every skilled leader will tell you that it’s how you structure your organization to get the most from that expertise that counts.  And that’s where Top Shelf shines.

We had an opportunity to speak with Darrin Phillips, Founder and CEO and Samantha Stanton, Assistant Project Manager. What follows, is a small snapshot of our conversations:

Mr. Phillips explained that: "As elementary as it sounds, everything starts with a focus on planning and the basics.”

Clear procedures are in place including a system of checks and balances which ensure accuracy and accountability. There are universal processes to be followed for every project and any adjustments to these processes are specific to the nuances of each project. These processes are instrumental in ensuring every project goes smoothly, is on time and on budget.

Mr. Phillips also explained the projects almost always have something that goes a little sideways. Because of the processes in place, the Project Manager can address the issue while the rest of the project continues without interruption.

When we spoke with Ms. Stanton, we asked her what she thought made Top Shelf Real Estate Investors special. Without hesitation she said: “Transparency with our clients, making the process as easy as possible; and doing everything we say we will do. Transparency keeps our clients informed every step of the way in all phases of the project.”

After speaking with her team members, she added this statement: “I know that I had spoken a lot about transparency, but I think that some of our team members have expressed an important additional perspective on the pillars of our organization. They have worked hard to complete tasks, especially while working remotely, all while maintaining integrity in their work. We all feel that integrity and the ability to maintain deadlines, despite unforeseen challenges have become more important than ever before during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

We also asked Ms. Stanton if she could recall a favorite project. With pride in her voice, she said; “I’m relatively new here (a little under three years) and I just finished my first project that I was part of from beginning to end. Just seeing the process from start to finish, the support of my team, everything that I learned, how happy our client was…this first start-to-finish project will always be special to me.”
