The Lead Finisher mentors and supports the finishing team, optimizing production flow while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Leads in the finishing department. Prepares wood surfaces, and applies to wood surfaces; stains, primers, paints and top coats. Uses different prosses to put on finish. Trains apprentices, and new hires. Maintain spray equipment.
Position Details

Finish Prep
•Correctly prepare wood surfaces.
•Understand sanding requirements and proper techniques.
•Understands how to prepare non-wood surfaces for finishing

Staining
•Correctly uses wipe stains.
•Correctly uses spray stains.
•Understands various staining techniques and when to apply them.
•Understand all aspects of wood finishing
•Be able to identify and trouble shoot various finish problems.

Top Coating
•Correctly applying sealers and topcoats to various surfaces.
•Understand differences between various finishes and how they are achieved.
•Professional quality finish.

Maintenance
•All equipment is clean and in proper working condition.
•Equipment is handled with care and is used to its potential life span.

Leadership/Mentorship
•Direct and oversee assigned helpers.
•Teach new hires in proper preparation of surfaces for finishing.
•Direct helpers as needed in all aspects of the finishing process.
•Provide feedback on new hire performance.
•Address complaints and resolve production issues
•Develop and implement measures to improve the department
